Our Green Policy
COMPLIANCE
We will comply with applicable laws and regulations and will implement programs and procedures to assure compliance. Compliance with environmental standards will be a key ingredient in the training, performance reviews, and incentives of all associates. We will strive to be a leader in the hospitality industry in improving environmental quality, by minimizing waste and emissions, reusing and recycling, reducing the use of natural resources and promoting pollution prevention efforts throughout the company.
RISK REDUCTION, PREVENTION, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
We will employ management systems and procedures specifically designed to prevent activities and / or conditions that pose a threat to human health, safety, or the environment. We will look for ways to minimize risk and protect our associates and the surrounding communities and environment in which we operate by striving to minimize releases to the air, land, or water through use of cleaner technologies and the safer use of chemicals, and employing a greener approach to our operations. We shall practice wise resource management, including conservation of limited resources and the re-use and recycling of materials. We will minimize the amount and toxicity of waste generated and will ensure the safe treatment and disposal of waste. We will manage scarce resources, such as water, energy, land, forests, in an environmentally sensitive manner.
COMMUNICATION
We will communicate our commitment to HS&E quality and to our company’s environmental performance to our staff and customers. We shall encourage open communications with surrounding communities, staff, customers and government officials. We will work with our customers in ascertaining and meeting their environmental needs and goals consistent with our environmental compliance and management programs. Both The Health & Safety Committee and The Green Team shall act as a forum for sharing and discussing both health & safety concerns and environmental solutions, respectively.
TRAINING
The key to a successful environmental management system is the involvement and commitment of our associates. This commitment requires a thorough understanding of the environmental aspects of each job we perform. We will educate our associates in the impact their jobs have on the environment. It is each person’s responsibility to ensure that he or she understands the environmental aspects of their job and to take an active part in protecting the environment. Performance appraisals of associates shall incorporate the demonstration of this commitment.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
We will measure our progress as best we can. We will review our progress at least on an annual basis. We shall commit to the continuous education and training of associates in environmental issues and the environmental effects of their activities. We will continuously seek opportunities to improve our adherence to these principles and to improving our environmental performance, through participation in programmes, and we will periodically report progress at scheduled H&S and Green Team Meetings.
Members of the Health & Safety Committee and The Green Team and management at all levels are responsible for ensuring that this policy is adhered to by all associates and subcontractors.
